Our Team

Sreejata Guha: is a published translator of Bengali fiction into English. Her translations of Rabindranath Tagore, Saratchandra Chattopadhyay, Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay, Taslima Nasreen, Saradindu Bandyopadhyay and Sunil Gangopadhyay have been published by Penguin Books India Pvt. Ltd. and their children’s imprint: Puffin India. She has more than ten published titles to her name. She is responsible for the genesis of shonakatha.com and currently she fulfils the role of general architect and coordinator of the project who oversees the formation of the website, producing and guiding the content generation, collating supporting material for the individual tracks (the synopsis, the glossary etc.).

Dipankar Ganguly’s interest lies in actualizing ideas using technology effectively. He has had close to 20 years of work-experience in Goliaths like IBM and Davids like Tor Anumana (a specialized technology startup)  apart from iGate, Capco, Ness Technologies (where he is presently Vice President, Technology). He lends his technical expertise in architecting the design and construction of the website and in future he will be responsible for all technological needs of the project.

Swapna Guha: has been writing audio-plays for AIR Kolkata and Chitrabani, Kolkata (which produced the Bengali radio programmes to be broadcast from Radio Veritas, Manila) for 20 years. She has worked as an assistant producer and later as acting-producer for Chitrabani’s radio division, under the tutelage of the late Sri Jayanta Chaudhuri who was a renowned radio-artiste and also a film personality. For the last 3 years she has been mentoring Baakchitri, a group of dedicated voice-actors who perform audio plays and lend a different shade of meaning to the term ‘in the mind’s eye’ – where an image is formed in the listener’s mind through speech and sound alone. She conducts workshops that enhance speech skills and voice-acting skills, which is significantly different from stage-acting. She is the creative director of this project and executes the recording of the audio tracks with the help of her able team and other assistants.
